Alison Harris
Alison Harris
Alison Harris lives in Blucher Valley, a wild space between Sebastopol and The Pacific Ocean. The coastal winds, creeks, and redwood trees of this small Sebastopol Valley can be heard in every note she plays and sings. Her musical influences include Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Gillian Welch. She has shared the stage with Sam Bush, Albert Lee, The Mother Hips, Langhorne Slim, Honey Honey, and Ramblin’ Jack Elliot. Her debut record, “Smoke Rings in the Sky” (Omega Records, 2008), garnered praise by San Francisco Magazine, who described Alison as “A country songbird perched on Bonnie Raitt's shoulder. She sings about loneliness and longing with a grace and beauty that almost makes those things desirable.” Alison’s sophomore album, Walker Road, was recorded live and analog at the historic Walker Road Schoolhouse building in Two Rock, California with Americana Band The Barn Owls. Walker Road captures the organic warmth and spontaneity of the band playing music in a beautiful old room, decorated with a soulful mix of Wurlitzer, Vibraphone, and Hammond B-3. She is currently working on a piano/vocal based cover album of The Mother Hips' songs produced and engineered by Tim Bluhm (The Mother Hips), with musical contributions by Pat Sansone (Wilco) and Dave Schools (Widespread Panic, Hard Working Americans).
